Decentralised Philanthropy

We are committed to empowering
the continent of Africa to unlock
the potential of web3.

Index Africa also believes in using the incredible innovations in Web3 to educate and uplift a future generation of rural Africans to participate in the
web3 economy.

In a funding model known as Decentralised Philanthropy (DePhi), each validation, indexing and staking node that we operate contributes a percentage of indexing rewards to our non-profit partner the Good Work Foundation (GWF).

The GWF is an African-based organisation that aims to teach digital literacy, STEM and web3 education in the most rural parts of South Africa, serving over 10,000 children every week through its Open Learning Academies.

Index Africa’s DePhi Model contributes a portion of all staking rewards to create a sustainable funding mechanism from long term delegation.

Instead of extracting value from users, Web 3.0 networks capture value by creating opportunities for them instead. In this way, Web 3.0 protocols  turn the economic incentive structure of today’s internet on its head so that more people can participate.

We are connecting two worlds by inviting delegators and token holders to stake with us so that a portion of all rewards can be used to fund the GWF.

This model allows delegators and token holders to retain ownership of their tokens, earn rewards from delegations and also be partners in developing digital literacy in Africa, to train the next generation of web3 builders.

Immediately, the lights turned on for us…we awakened to the opportunity that Index Africa could have for connecting decentralisation with digital education in Africa.
